What I dream…
Ghosts, monsters, evil incarnate
Never leaving me be
Always chasing me…

Ever hiding or playing dead
Hoping they’d glaze over me
Then I’d be safe
It never fools them
They always find me
I look around
To see if they’ve passed me by…

But alas, a face
No hint of humanity
Comes up out of nowhere
Right before me
Eyes glinting
Lips curled into such a wicked smile

It sees my fear
Takes it in like a luscious dessert
And it knows there is no escape for me

I feel a cool bubbling in my chest
As I struggle to find a way out
I feel my breath cut short
It doesn’t matter
There’s nowhere I can hide
From the monsters inside
As part of me,
They know my every move

No need to chase me
They take their time
Savoring every moment
Feeling the dread rise within me
Both he & i…

Oh how I just wish it was over
Let me die, put an end to this!
But death is frozen in this twisted place

Crying as the hopelessness sets in
The wounds dripping,
Leaving me weaker & slower
I am forced to stay alert
To every stab, scare & pressure point found

Evil laughs as I continue my struggle
“keep fighting,” he says…
“makes the taste more bittersweet.”

It’s no use,
I’m trapped in eternal torture…

Eyes burst open,
body still aching,
but it wasn’t real!
I still feel the fear rising out of me
Waiting for the creature
To show its face again
To reveal my waking as false hope

… nothing …

closing my eyes again,
I curl into a ball
Hoping for salvation…

Then it begins again…
The nightmare returns…
It’s just no use.
